Fwd: [iaclals] Focus on Short Stories in Indian languages in Muse India

Dear Friends,

Greetings from Hyderabad! We are now entering into the season of festivals in India. I wish you happy times with your dear ones during the celebrations.

The new Issue of Muse India (No. 63, Sep-Oct 2015) is now released and can be viewed at www.museindia.com. This is a special Issue on short stories from different Indian languages. In the voluminous first part of our coverage, we present a sumptuous fare of 21 tales from 18 languages. While they show the cultural diversity of India, they also show the common ethos that underpin the nation. The sequel to this will be presented in the Mar-Apr 2016 Issue.

In our feature on the noted Marathi writer, Bhalchandra Nemade, who was conferred with the Jnanpith award for 2014, several scholars and critics discuss why his oeuvre merits such recognition. Our other general sections on literary discussion, book reviews, poetry and fiction add to the richness of content of the Issue. One of the highlights is an article on literary writings of former president, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam.

We have been endeavouring to provide broad-based and thematic coverage on Indian writing in our Issues. We welcome your feedback and suggestions.

With warm regards,

Surya

GSP Rao, Managing Editor, Muse India
