Dear Colleagues from near and afar:

I am interested in inviting a scholar to deliver a talk on the American West at BITS-Pilani, Goa Campus. Possible areas for the talk could be:

1.       Postmodern Westerns (fiction/film)

2.       Modern Westerns (fiction/film)

3.       19^th century Dime novels (Beadle Co., for instance)

4.       19^th century Western art/ landscape paintings

5.       20^th century Western art/ landscape paintings

6.       Scientific explorations/mappings of the American West (19^th century)

7.       Theoretical understandings of the Frontier myth

If you (or anyone you know) have worked on these topics and/or have published materials recently in this broad field, please reply to me (off list) at nilakdatta@yahoo.in

The talk could be planned any time between March and May 2015.

Details of travel/ accommodation/ honorarium will be provided after schedule is finalized.
