Dear Friends,
At the outset, let me wish you a very Happy New Year! I hope you have now settled down to a more normal pace of life after the yearend celebrations. Wishing you a wonderful year ahead.
It is with great pleasure that I announce the release of the 10thAnniversary Issue of Muse India (www.museindia.com).
A special feature of this Issue is a comprehensive review of Indian literature today. With all major Indian languages and writing in English included, the scale and scope of this coverage is, perhaps, unprecedented for a literary journal. We also invited several noted poets to specially contribute to this edition.
The coverage on Visual Arts, as a sequel to the one on performing arts in the previous Issue, completes our feature on writings on creative arts in India. Edited by Priyadarshi Patnaik, the section includes several conversations with writers and artists, as well as a gallery of artwork of many young creative persons.
Another highlight of this Issue is a long exploratory essay by Meena Alexander which is more in the form of a self-conversation. Also included is a long discussion with scholar and cultural personality, Ananya Jahanara Kabir. Along with more short stories and book reviews than normal, this indeed is a bumper Issue, which we hope will be cherished by our readers.
Our next Issue (Mar-Apr 2015) will have the usual annual review of Indian Writing in English by GJV Prasad and coverage on Hyderabad Literary Festival to be held on Jan 23-26, 2015. We will cover the Writing of Indian Diaspora in the May-Jun 2015 Issue to be edited by Usha Akella and Pramila Venkateswaran. Please look up the link 'Forthcoming' for more details. We invite contributions to all these featured sections.
We move on to the second decade, rededicating ourselves to serve Indian literature with the same selfless zeal.
With warm wishes,
Surya
