The South Asian Languages Analysis (SALA) Roundtable is a long-established annual meeting for the dissemination of research of all kinds into the languages of South Asia. The first SALA Roundtable was organised in 1978 at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and since then SALA has been hosted by a long list of institutions in North America, South Asia, and Europe.
The thirty-first South Asian Languages Analysis Roundtable (SALA-31) will be held at Lancaster University from Thursday 14th May to Saturday 16th May 2015.
We are now pleased to issue this Call for Participation for the conference.
The following speakers have accepted our invitation to give plenary lectures at SALA-31:
• Miriam Butt
• Carol Genetti
• Sonal Kulkarni-Joshi
• Ulrich Pagel and Nathan Hill
Programme
The conference will run across three days, Thursday to Saturday, beginning in the morning on Day 1 and running until late afternoon on Day 3.
A list of presentations accepted for the conference is now available on the conference website (http://ucrel.lancs.ac.uk/sala-31/programme.php); a provisional schedule will follow shortly.
Registration
Prices for conference registration and (optional) on-campus accommodation are now posted on the conference website (http://ucrel.lancs.ac.uk/sala-31/register.php). There are reduced prices for earlybird registration, and for postgraduate student participants (i.e. those enrolled on a Masters or doctoral degree).
Registration and payment must be submitted via our online system, available via the same web page.
Key dates
• 5th March 2015 – earlybird registration opens
• 8th April 2015 – earlybird registration ends (prices rise)
• 19th April 2015 – end of guaranteed registration; last date for cancellation with refund
• 14th May 2015 – conference begins.
Venue and accommodation
SALA-31 will be held at the conference centre at the Lancaster House Hotel, directly adjacent to the Lancaster University campus; see http://www.lancs.ac.uk/contact-and-getting-here/maps-and-travel/ for information.
Accommodation is available in on-campus student residences, and can be booked at the point of registration. Please note there are a limited amount of rooms available so please book early to avoid disappointment. Participants who prefer to make their own their own arrangements can find a range of accommodation options in the Lancaster area, including the Lancaster House Hotel (the conference venue) itself.
