If you
notice carefully, you will find at least one group of old people at almost
every railway stations/platforms of India during afternoon time. At the last
part of their age these people generally come for time pass, jogging, meeting
friends and so on. In such a station today I met an old man who is quite
interesting. Born in between 1930-1932 at Hyderabad, Pakistan, he was near about
17-18 when the infamous Partition of Indian subcontinent happened. Got married
just 3 hours before he had to leave his place and came India as a refugee. Then
his journey started Calcutta, Tata Nagar, Rourkela, Banaras, Ajmer, Purnia, Bihar
and finally settled in Hyderabad, India in 1967. Now he is near about 80+ and
quite energetic and jovial too.
Discussed
how he witnessed the Partition and violence. How he changed business one after
another ranging various things. And yes he also revealed how he worked for the
secret religious groups at the time and so many other things. Whatever may be
but he is old, lively, energetic, humorous and keeps a positive attitude
towards life. I had always a dream to meet a man who witnessed the Partition and probably this was the right man. Waiting for my train really had a nice time taking with you sir. Hats
off to you.
